The call

Hello, Williams Lake Studio Theatre Blog.

Hello. Uh...do I know you? You seem remotely familiar to me.

My name's Todd. I believe we've met a time or two in the past, if only in passing.

Well, thanks for dropping by. It's been kind of lonely around here lately. What brings you by, if you don't mind my asking.

Well, actually, I'm really quite excited because I got the call last night, and I needed someone to talk to about it.

The call?

Yeah.

What call?

You know. The CALL. Pretty much the best telephone call anyone could hope to get.

The call from Publisher's Clearing House? The sweepstakes thing?

No, not that one.

Nicole Kidman called to see what you were doing this weekend?

No, I...what are you even talking about?

Well, those are pretty much the two best phone calls I could think of. What the heck are you talking about?

I'm talking about Tony Savile from the Williams Lake Studio Theatre phoning to tell me that my directorial proposal was approved for next season.

Oh, THAT call. Yeah, okay, that's a pretty cool call, I admit. What's the play?

It's called "Welcome to the Monkeyhouse."

Welcome to the what?

The Monkeyhouse.

That sounds dumb.

Geez, are you always this hostile?

Hey, c'mon, no one's been around for awhile. I've had a lot of time to build up some agression. So it's not dumb?

No, of course it's not dumb. It's quite good. And kind of funny in some parts.

What's it about?

Well, it's kind of confusing...

Oh, great!

No! But it's...

Is this some kind of wierd french existentialist thing?

It's an adaptation of four short stories by Kurt Vonnegut.

Oh, that doesn't sound so bad.

It's not. Like I said, it's actually quite good.

When's it going to be on stage?

Probably some time in March. Hard to say when, dates aren't concrete yet.

That's kind of a ways off still.

Yup. But I'm excited about it already, and like I said, needed someone to talk to.

And you thought of me first? How sweet! Does this make it an official announcement?

Probably not. Most official announcements don't come in the form of the writer talking to a blog.

True. Will there be an official announcement at some point?

There's a chance. I guess that'll depend on whether anyone else remembers you exist, little bloggy.

Sometimes I think no one loves me.

We all feel that way from time to time. You'll feel better. Give it time.

Well, thanks for dropping by. It was nice to see a new face around. Good luck with the play, man.

Thanks! Buh-bye!
